  • 10.45 am to 1 pm followed by a buffet lunch

The meeting will include an update on the local Short Breaks Statement.  The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 which came into force on 1 April 2018 will place a new duty on local authorities to prepare and publish a Short Breaks Services Statement.  There will be an opportunity to discuss the local Short Breaks statement which will provide carers and the person they care for with information about the short breaks services available locally and across Scotland.

Care with Confidence in Clackmannanshire

The new Care with Confidence sessions start on Wednesday 29 August 2018, 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, at Hawkhill Community Centre, 32 Hillcrest Drive, Alloa FK10 1SB

Hear from various professionals about the services that are available to support carers and those they care for. Topics include Dementia – Making your Home more User Friendly, Home Fire Safety, NHS Managed GP Practices and Aspects of Old Alloa.

Better Breaks Family Outings Summer 2018

Applications are invited for the Better Breaks Outing for children and young people (up to 20 years) with additional support needs and their families across Falkirk and Clackmannanshire:

  • East Links Family Park, Dunbar, Wednesday 25 July 2018, 10 am till 4.30 pm.  Please bring a packed lunch.
  • Pals Inclusive play park, Pittencreiff Park, Dunfermline, Wednesday 1 August 2018, 10 am till 3.30 pm.  This will be a smaller outing, please contact the Centre to discuss further.
  • Glasgow Riverside Museum and The Tall Ship, Glasgow, Thursday 9 August, 10 am till 4.30 pm.  Lunch will be provided.

Transport will be made available to those families who require it and would like to travel with the larger group.  Families are also welcome to self-travel and attend independently.  As in previous years, and in keeping with Better Breaks funding criteria, a small contribution of £2.50 per head will be required towards admission.

Please complete the application form as soon as possible.  East Links Family Park application deadline is Wednesday 13 July.  Pals and Glasgow Riverside Museum is Wednesday 18 July at 5 pm.

Places cannot be guaranteed, and priority will be given to families who have not participated in, or who have participated in fewer, previous Better Breaks outings.

 

 

Care with Confidence

For the first time, Falkirk & Clackmannanshire Carers Centre will offer the adult Seasons for Growth programme which aims to build resilience and bring hope and confidence to carers who have experienced significant change or loss.

Grief may be due to any number of experiences including bereavement, relationship breakdown, caring or experiencing ill health. It may be a recent loss, or something that happened a long time ago.

Care with Confidence in Falkirk: What Carers Need to Know

Where can I find out about Power of Attorney?   Would I be entitled to Legal Aid?

Falkirk & Clackmannanshire Carers Centre is offering carers an opportunity to attend local sessions that will focus on improving their confidence in caring for someone else. These sessions will also provide carers with information that will develop their knowledge and understanding to help them in their caring role.

The new Care with Confidence sessions start on Tuesday 19 June 2018, 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, at the Carers Centre in Falkirk.
