Knit, Natter and Raise Money for Local Carers

Staff and carers are busy knitting ‘twiddlemuffs’ to sell at the Falkirk Charities Day on Saturday 19 August.

A twiddlemuff is a double thickness knitted muff with bits and bobs attached inside and out.  It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation.  At the same time it keeps hands snug and warm or it can be used on the arm to cover cannulas and stop people with dementia pulling them out.

We thought it might be more fun to meet together and have a tea or coffee and a blether as we knit.  Sessions will be held at the Centre in Falkirk on Tuesdays 1, 8 and 15 August, 6 pm – 9 pm.  Come for as long or short as you want.  We can provide knitting needles, wool and items to sew onto the muffs.

Why not come and join us?

Falkirk Charities Day – Twiddle Muffs

The Carers Centre is taking part in Falkirk Charities Day and we are keen to raise as much as we can for the Centre.

One of our products will be a twiddle muff…yes it’s a thing.  A Twiddle Muff is a double thickness hand muff with bits and bobs attached inside and out. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation whilst at the same time keeping hands snug and warm.

If you would like to help, or know someone that can, please download the knitting pattern here. There are no restrictions on colours or types of bits & bobs – as long as it’s interesting and colourful!

We must receive donations at the Carers Centre, 1a Bank Street, Falkirk, FK1 1NB by Friday 18 August 2017 at 12 noon. As this is for a fundraising event, we cannot reimburse people for any materials used.
