Self Directed Support Survey
A Stirling University Masters Student has asked us to share this short survey about Self-Directed Support (SDS) awareness with you, looking at demand for what breaks families/carers/children/young adults would prefer to chose – i.e. residential respite weekend or an adventure based short break.Please help her research by following the attached link.
Care with Confidence Chair Yoga & Guided Relaxation
Our new Yoga and Guided Relaxation Care with Confidence sessions for carers start on Tuesday 2 August 2016.
Carers can often find themselves under increasing stress. We have designed a program of free informal sessions to equip carers with techniques to help them relax and stay healthy.

The fifth Carers Parliament will be held on 2 November 2016 at Herriot Watt University. There are places for two carers from each of the 73 Scottish Parliamentary constituencies. Places will be decided by a ballot, which will be held in late July with successful delegates informed in early August.ย Click hereย for further information or to enter your name in the ballot.
Carers Week 2016
Carers across Falkirk district and Clackmannanshire have signed upย to attend events organised by the Carers Centre to mark Carers Week 2016, starting with our 20th Anniversary Celebration Event at the Hippodrome in Bo’ness and including pampering sessions, information sessions, and more. ย On Friday, carers are invited to join us for the Big Fit Walk – in Tullibody and at the Helix in Falkirk.

Falkirk and Clackmannanshire carers will kick off Carers Week in style in Scotland’s oldest purpose-built cinema, the Hippodrome in Boโness where they will enjoy a glass of fizz, some canapรฉs and an exclusive showing of the recently released film, โFlorence Foster Jenkinsโ, starring Hugh Grant and Meryl Streep.

Better Breaks Outings 2016
Applications are invited for this yearโs Better Breaks Outings for children and young people (up to 20 years) with additional support needs and their families in Falkirk District and Clackmannanshire:
- Dreamnight at the Zoo โ 19th August 6-9 pm, Edinburgh Zoo
- Christmas Pantomime- December 2016 (details to be confirmed)
Transport to Dreamnight at the Zoo will be made available to those families who require it or would like to travel with a group, families are also welcome to travel and attend independently.

The deadline for receipt of completed applications for the Summer outing is Friday 17th June at 5pm. Places cannot be guaranteed and priority will be given to families who have not participated in, or who have participated in fewer, previous Better Breaks outings.
Tickets for Dreamnight have been made available by the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland and, thanks to funding from the Scottish Government’s Short Breaks Fund (Better Breaks programme), we are able to offer transport for a limited number of eligible families.

Falkirk Carers Forum
The Carers Forum meets quarterly. It is an opportunity for carers to discuss local and national issues that affect carers and those they care for with professionals and one another.
