Understanding Advocacy Support
Discover the role of independent advocacy and the support available in Falkirk for learning disabled and/or autistic people aged 16 and over.Β
We will welcome Central Advocacy Partners (CAP), an independent, relationship-based advocacy service for learning disabled and/or autistic people aged 16 and over. Their office is based in Falkirk, supporting people from Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire.
Bob Thomson, Advocacy Worker, will explain what independent advocacy is and the role of the advocacy worker. You will learn about the different groups and projects CAP provide and what CAP does and doesnβt do.
Bob will also talk about the issues people face, why they seek support from CAP, and how CAPβs role differs from social work, health, the Carers Centre and other statutory services. There will be plenty of time for questions too!
