Falkirk Charities Day – Twiddle Muffs

The Carers Centre is taking part in Falkirk Charities Day and we are keen to raise as much as we can for the Centre.

One of our products will be a twiddle muff…yes it’s a thing.  A Twiddle Muff is a double thickness hand muff with bits and bobs attached inside and out. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation whilst at the same time keeping hands snug and warm.

If you would like to help, or know someone that can, please download the knitting pattern here. There are no restrictions on colours or types of bits & bobs – as long as it’s interesting and colourful!

We must receive donations at the Carers Centre, 1a Bank Street, Falkirk, FK1 1NB by Friday 18 August 2017 at 12 noon. As this is for a fundraising event, we cannot reimburse people for any materials used.

Adult Support and Protection Event

Do you use health or social care services? Can you help?

Eight years ago, Scotland introduced a law to ‘support and protect’ adults who need help to stay safe. The law makes clear what should happen when an adult is neglected or mistreated. In the Falkirk area, an Adult Protection Committee meets regularly to improve support and protection services.

The Committee is setting up a reference group for people who use health or social care services to comment on what works best. The first meeting is on Wednesday 28 September 2016 at 11 am at the Carers Centre in Falkirk.

We hope you will come and help improve services to people. For more information contact Ian Kinsley on 07786 704111.
