The Frontotemporal Dementia Carer Sessions are open to carers of people with a confirmed diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia.Β The monthly sessions provide information and support to carers in an informal setting.Β Professionals are also invited on a regular basis to talk about the clinical, social and legal aspects of care.
The programme which includes sessions on Food for Thought, Stress & Distress and a Topic Choice chosen by the carers who attend will start on Friday 28 September from 1.30 pm to 3.30 pm.Β Thereafter the group will meet on the last Friday in October and November 2018.

The What Carers Need to Know programme will help carers to improve their confidence and develop their knowledge and understanding of their caring role.Β For those who cannot attend our day time programmes, we are offering carers an opportunity to attend six evening sessions, 6 pm to 8 pm,Β at Falkirk & Clackmannanshire Carers Centre, starting on Wednesday 12 September 2018.Β Β Refreshments and finger buffet will be available on arrival.Β Please download a programme for more information.

The meeting will include an update on the local Short Breaks Statement.Β The Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 which came into force on 1 April 2018 will place a new duty on local authorities to prepare and publish a Short Breaks Services Statement.Β There will be an opportunity to discuss the local Short Breaks statement which will provide carers and the person they care for with information about the short breaks services available locally and across Scotland.

The new Care with Confidence sessions start on Wednesday 29 August 2018, 10.30 am to 12.30 pm, at Hawkhill Community Centre, 32 Hillcrest Drive, Alloa FK10 1SB
Hear from various professionals about the services that are available to support carers and those they care for. Topics include Dementia – Making your Home more User Friendly, Home Fire Safety, NHS Managed GP Practices and Aspects of Old Alloa.

Applications are invited for the Better Breaks Outing for children and young people (up to 20 years) with additional support needs and their families across Falkirk and Clackmannanshire:
Transport will be made available to those families who require it and would like to travel with the larger group.Β Families are also welcome to self-travel and attend independently.Β As in previous years, and in keeping with Better Breaks funding criteria, a small contribution of Β£2.50 per head will be required towards admission.

Places cannot be guaranteed, and priority will be given to families who have not participated in, or who have participated in fewer, previous Better Breaks outings.

For the first time, Falkirk & Clackmannanshire Carers Centre will offer the adult Seasons for Growth programme which aims to build resilience and bring hope and confidence to carers who have experienced significant change or loss.
Grief may be due to any number of experiences including bereavement, relationship breakdown, caring or experiencing ill health. It may be a recent loss, or something that happened a long time ago.
