Carers Act Evening Event rescheduled to Thursday 15 February 2018

Please note that the Carers Act Evening Event to be held on Wednesday 10 January 2018 has been rescheduled to Thursday 15 February 2018, 6 pm to 7.30 pm at the Carers Centre, 1a Bank Street, Falkirk FK1 1NB.

With the implementation of the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 in April 2018, Local Authorities are required to publish local eligibility criteria outlining the levels of support carers can expect. Carers in Falkirk who were unable to attend the December event at the Park Hotel to involve carers in the design of the eligibility criteria are invited to attend this event in February.

The meeting will include an update on the Carers (Scotland) Act 2016 and the opportunity to be involved with partners in health and social care to determine how the needs of local carers will be met in the future.

To book a place, please contact the Centre at centre@centralcarers.co.uk

Falkirk Charities Day – Twiddle Muffs

The Carers Centre is taking part in Falkirk Charities Day and we are keen to raise as much as we can for the Centre.

One of our products will be a twiddle muff…yes it’s a thing.  A Twiddle Muff is a double thickness hand muff with bits and bobs attached inside and out. It provides a wonderful source of visual, tactile and sensory stimulation whilst at the same time keeping hands snug and warm.

If you would like to help, or know someone that can, please download the knitting pattern here. There are no restrictions on colours or types of bits & bobs – as long as it’s interesting and colourful!

We must receive donations at the Carers Centre, 1a Bank Street, Falkirk, FK1 1NB by Friday 18 August 2017 at 12 noon. As this is for a fundraising event, we cannot reimburse people for any materials used.
